In this post, I will show you how to make money from Fiverr by ranking higher.
So if you want to
- find the right gig
- get more gig orders
- rank on 1st page of Fiverr
- scale your business
Then, you’ll want to stick around and keep reading until the end.
Determine what to sell on Fiverr
I will show you how you can find gigs that you can sell on Fiverr.
You always have to keep an eye on three (3) numbers.
#1. Monthly traffic (Demand)
#2. Number of services that are available (Competitiveness)
#3. Number of sales the sellers actually made (Conversion)
Take a look at Fiverr’s top pages, graphic design is the most sought-after skill in Fiverr.
Specifically, logo design is the most profitable niche to go into.
This page gets an estimated 605,038 visits a month from Google.
Here’s the kicker:
With the logo design example, this is too competitive, as if you decide to set up a logo design gig on Fiverr
You will be competing against one hundred and ninety-five thousand (195,000) other sellers.
Let’s do some maths here:
- Number of favorable traffic = total number of traffic/number of the service provider
- Probability=number of favorable traffic/total number of traffic
The average traffic each seller can possibly get:
605,038/195,000 = 3
The probability of conversion:
3/605,038 = 0.000005
Deep down you know only those ranks on pages 1 & 2 are getting all the traffics.
The fact that he has 1000++ ratings takes him to more than the displayed sales figure, considering that most of the buyers don’t leave ratings.
It means that he has been selling on Fiverr for more than five years, and is ranking on page one in a super competitive market with 195,000 service providers available.
Take a look at the second example:
This page gets an estimated 29,413 visits a month from Google.
There are 3,079 service providers competing in the same space.
And there is enough meat here.
29,413/3079 = 9.6
The conversion probability:
9.6/29,413 = 0.0003
Compared to logo design (0.000005) and Scriptwriting (0.0003), the latter’s conversion probability is 60x higher with all things equal.
Look To Your Top Competitor For Inspiration
The next thing you must do after choosing which gig you wish to create is to research your competitors and the model of the gig you wish to create on Fiverr. In addition, if you can do a little modeling, you should take a look at their titles, descriptions, prices, and tags. Thinking you have to copy what they’re doing, is not the best idea.
You are more likely to achieve success if you essentially do something similar to what they are doing on page one of Fiverr search engine results because that is what they’re doing right. Simply type the gig that you want to create into Fiverr. Essentially, since I had Mixing and Mastering as my search term, I simply copied the titles of the highest-ranking Fiverr service providers then pasted them into my word document.
The same would apply to a description. You can learn more about that gig by just clicking it, scrolling down, and then the description will appear. Then you should also do the same for the tags. You just scroll down and down below the ratings until you find the text. Below you will find the ratings. So, go ahead and copy the related text.
It’s recommended that you do this with like three to four vendors on Fiverr. At the bottom of the page, you’ll see a list of related tags you can copy and paste into your word document. Additionally, you should look at what prices the sellers are offering. And it’s quite easy to do as well, all you have to do is compare their offers.
Here is a list of what’s included with the different packages. All you have to do is put this information into a Word file. This is kind of telling you that they’re driving traffic by ranking on page one, so you just want to start with a similar title.
If you want to succeed on Fiverr, you need to optimize your title, description, tags, and prices. In fact, they are. So if you want to model these titles, just look at their description, but don’t copy anything that they’re saying, rather rewrite the description in your own words, looking at what they’re saying.
So here are some keywords you need to include like mastering and mixing. Besides that, you should explain to the buyer why they should order your gig instead of one of your competitors. Simply let them know what to expect such as the gig will be completed on time, and they will get a free consultation. Then you can give them the best of everything. Make sure you include all text here.
When comparing the best sellers’ text, you choose five of them, which you will use when you create your gig, and then compare those prices. Are there any other sellers who actually offer it? Go out there, look at your top competitors or open a word document where you can copy a copy of the title, the description, price, and other vital information on their word document.
Use the same text, but in your own words. There is no need to rewrite the text. Create your gig using the same text. Then, after you have done all of that, you are ready to work with Fiverr.
How To Create Gig On Fiverr
Now that you have created the word file with their titles, descriptions, tags, and prices. It’s time to find out how to set up your gig using the information that you have gathered. To create a gig here on Fiverr, all you have to do is click the gigs button. Then click on “create a new gig.”
When creating your gig, you actually begin with the gig title, so Fiverr will give you two mandatory words you must include in your title, I and Will. Whatever you do next is totally your call. We will model these three titles in our word file.
We will need a long-tail keyword to compete because the longer the keyword is, the less competition there will be. Also, it will tell you if your keyword is too long or too short, and you should select your categories now.
It is highly recommended that you go ahead and use all five tags because this will significantly improve the Fiverr algorithm’s ability to find your gig.
It’s possible to create only one package for gigs, but it unlocks your potential revenue with all three packages. You should definitely set up all three as some buyers might be interested in your basic package.
Once they read the details of your core or premium package, they may change their mind and order a different package which will make you more money. I would call my starter package basic, as would my standard package, medium package, and premium package. Getting these done isn’t really that important, but you just have to do this. Then you explain what this package has to offer. Fiverr penalizes you for delivering orders too late, so be sure to deliver them on time.
You know you’re just starting out, so try to offer everything for cheaper than your competitor’s price.
After you get five-star ratings, you can raise your prices. So you’re gonna sell these gigs cheaper now in order to get your first orders. In this case, I will do the following: offer extra gigs that enable you to earn more money than the prices you are charging for your standard or premium gig because you can charge extra for extra gigs.
It’s always good to have an extra-fast delivery. You can charge extra for an extra fast delivery if someone is in a rush and they need the work delivered much faster than your delivery time. You are expected to make the best use of all the features Fiverr has to offer. This extra feature should not be left blank.
Now, let’s talk about your gig, which is pretty important since it revolves around SEO. It’s best if your description uses your keywords so Fiverr’s algorithm finds your gig and ranks it higher than your competitors’ gigs.
Let clients know why they should hire you by briefly introducing yourself and explaining your qualifications. Your clients should know what to expect, what they will receive, and what they need from you. Just write a description much like the description of a top-ranking seller in your niche and keep referring back to the word file.
Remember, so as not to copy anything from your top-ranking competitors, write something similar to your own. After that, you can just go ahead and write the description.
Thus, now it’s optimized for Fiverr’s search engine, and it’s not just for Fiverr either. It lets people know what they can expect, why they should hire you, and what you’ll need from them.
This is actually one of the most frequently asked questions. People leave this blank most of the time. Also, Fiverr does not want you to leave anything blank since this feature has been included so you take advantage of it and not leave it blank. The first reason for using it is precisely this. Further, it will save you a lot of time because most clients will be asking you the same questions over time.
Answering the same questions each time can be sort of annoying. It is for this reason that you should go ahead and create a frequently asked questions page here so that people already know that you are organized. And Fiverr is also seeing that you’re using all of their features. To write your question just click on ADD FAQ to dispel all the doubts that people have about ordering from you by providing these commonly asked questions.
Here at Gallery, you will edit videos, photos, audios, and PDFs, and it is also possible to perform various tasks alongside them. Gig PDFs will not be quite as important. You would want to add audio if you were making a transcription, for example. It is sufficient to have good gig thumbnails and videos because this is what buyers see first when they find your gig on Fiverr.
Fiverr claims that sellers who use gig videos for their gigs experience a 220 percent higher conversion rate than those who fail to use gig videos in their gigs. People are more likely to click on it if it’s a gig video. Whatever your work may be, I strongly advise you to combine it with a video to increase your conversion rate.
How To Rank Higher On Fiverr
The next section is probably the most important because I will teach you a bunch of ranking secrets that you need to implement in order to make a lot of money and outrank your competition as well. If you put all of the pieces together, you’ll get a great result.
It would be best to treat Fiverr as if it was Google.
#1. Optimize your profile
One thing you should pay close attention to while using Fiverr is that your seller profile should be well-optimized because that’s the first thing potential customers see before they even get to the check-out page.
In general, if you have a picture that isn’t good or a name that doesn’t sound good, users aren’t going to order from you. Be sure to use your own name for your profile and use a photo of yourself if possible.
It all boils down to this: It depends on the services you’re offering.
In case you don’t want to expose your face, then use an image that highlights your services. You could, for instance, if you are into character modeling, just put one of your best characters as your avatar.
Let the buyer know what you are good at, what you love, how you operate, and what makes you unique. Let people get a taste of you as a person so that people can trust you and maybe admire your way of life.
Show people your skills here in the skills section. Make sure you don’t leave any blanks in your education. If you have any certifications, add them here. Getting things certified from places like Google, Hubspot and Facebook is one way if you don’t have any qualifications, like a degree in a particular field.
#2. Long-Tail Keywords
Here’s the thing.
Some services on Fiverr are highly competitive. Here, for instance, if you search for professional email writers, there are 519 available services, meaning you compete against 519 other sellers.
Your keyword will be super short and a lot of people will use it, so as you can imagine it will be very competitive. You will be able to rank your keyword easier with a longer keyword, as it is comparatively easier to rank longer keywords in search engines and so you will have less competition. A good long-tail keyword for the keyword professional email writers would be if, for instance, professional ecommerce email writers.
Here are some words to put in front of your main keyword. You can use these to make your keyword longer, thus allowing fewer opponents to rank the same keywords as you. Words to build your longtail keyword are
- high quality,
#3. Low Price Offer
The truth is,
If you’re just starting out, no one is going to trust you.
Don’t worry. There’s a solution.
All you have to do is by offering very affordable gigs to attract more people to your gigs and so they don’t have to risk a lot of money. But you’ll still be providing superb service.
People want good quality results and if they can get them for just five or ten dollars, they will be thrilled. They will surely give you five stars because you delivered high quality at a low cost.
It all comes down to this:
Thinking about Fiver as a long-term project is a right way to go. At first, you’ll have to set everything up, so you’ll make no money at all.
The first order you get will not result in huge profits since you want to get five-star reviews as soon as possible. However, once you have made a few sales, just raise your prices.
You will make more money in the future because of those five-star reviews and satisfied clients. Getting five-star reviews will allow you to rank higher. The higher you rank, the more money you will make in the long run.
#4. Free Bonuses And Always Over-deliver
The best way of getting new customers and making your customer happy on Fiverr is by offering free bonuses. Bonus is a word you could include in the gig title.
I will _________ plus bonus.
The reason this works is that people love getting things for free. They love getting bonuses. That would be an awesome way to go if you mentioned it in your title.
And just over-deliver without mentioning it at all. Upon completing the work, you give them a freebie to help them with their work and tell them that because you enjoy working with them, you like to give them something for free.
And if you deliver good work, people will give you a 5-star review.
#5. The Express Gig
Here’s the big idea:
If you can sell express gigs, you can beat out the competition by delivering your gigs in 24 hours.
Fiverr will rank you higher than your competition if your gigs can be delivered within 24 hours, allowing You to use the Express gig search filter against your competition.
You can find 4,076 services in Fiverr if you type in Character Modelling, for instance.
When searching for an express gig, a buyer could just go over to delivery time, click on Express 24 hours, and click on apply. From there, you will see there are only 925 services offered, meaning there are 3151 sellers left to compete against.
#6. Always Name Gig Image with Keyword
Let’s face it,
Gig image plays an important role in ranking on Google.
Make sure to rename your videos or images. Put your main keyword in your Fiverr gig image or video. Be sure to name your video or image with your main keyword, in this case, your title, before uploading to your gig.
Here’s the reason.
It will be easier for Fiverr’s algorithms to understand that this image goes with this gig since it will be associated with this gig.
And you’ll be ranking on google for image search.
Most Fiverr sellers overlook this point, they don’t even know it is important. However, it can make a great deal of difference as well.
#7. Don’t change the Gig URL
I’ve been there.
It could be that after creating your gig, you might want to change a few things, such as pricing and description. Thus you can always make some changes to everything in your gig at any point in the future.
The simple truth is,
Your goal should never be to rank your gig higher on Fiverr because you should always strive to rank your gig higher on Google as well.
Your gig should show up whenever someone searches for a gig on Google because this means you will get tons of direct traffic.
Hence, you can never change your gigs URL if you want your gigs to rank on Google. So if you create a gig on Fiverr, the first word of your gig is always “I will”.
You can only use “I will” as a starting point for gigs on Fiverr. Your gigs URL will be whatever comes after that. As I mentioned before, you can tweak the pricing of your gigs, the gig extras, your description, your gig images, or your gig video. It doesn’t matter what you do, just always make sure what follows “I will” stays the same.
This will help you rank your gigs not only on Fiverr but also on Google, the world’s largest search engine.
#8. Facebook Gig Exchange
Here’s the deal,
If you want to make money on Fiverr, you have to get your gig so good that it brings outside customers.
By bringing more traffic to your gig, Fiverr will reward you by ranking you higher. Fiverr algorithm uses this traffic to see if your gig is unique and brings traffic to the platform.
Here’s all you’ll have to do.
Head over to Facebook. In the search bar, type in Fiverr. There are also all these Fiverr promotions groups for you to choose from if you click on the group’s option.
You should join as many of these groups as you can. In the next step, you should go to your Fiverr gig, copy the URL, and then return to the group and just write:
Here’s my latest Fiverr gig! Hit the heart icon and send a screenshot of your response and I’ll return the favor.
Then click on Post and your post will be live in the group, then people will send you screenshots that they clicked on your gig’s heart – save to gigs I love.
Fiverr will know your gig gets lots of traffic if it sees your traffic stats. Although these people are not likely to buy from you, Fiverr will get the message that your gig is something special and therefore get you ranked higher in search engines.
#9. Stay Online
A great user experience is the cornerstone of Fiverr’s business model.
Fiverr basically wants you to be available most of the time, if not at all times. They want to know you are running an actual business.
Most Fiverr buyers will contact people who are online right now since they know that they can get all their questions answered in a few minutes.
And buyers are kind of stuck on Fiverr because they cannot get their work done right away.
It’s only natural for Fiverr to value service providers who are able to solve the buyer’s problem right away.
Most sellers on Fiverr overlook this as well. If you just stay online as much as possible, you will always be ranked higher on Fiverr.
In fact, you have the option to browse only online sellers. It shows you only those sellers that are currently online when you click that green dot.
#10. Create Same Gig’s Variation
You’ve seen other new sellers are moving the needle fast and getting orders in their gig offers.
So what’s the secret?
As a no-level seller on Fiverr, you are allowed to create 7 gigs.
I recommend you come up with a few variations for one and the same gig.
Let me explain.
You should create 3 variations of the same gig instead of just one because that way you will compete against the same amount of other sellers as you would be with just one gig.
So, you’ll have a better shot at ranking one of your gig’s variations.
One thing you need to keep in mind is that you should never copy your own gigs. As with any new variation, make sure you use unique titles, descriptions, images, and videos only.
If you use the same title or image for the same gig, Fiverr will penalize you.
#11. Performance KPI
Ranking on Fiverr is all about the delivery time, avoiding cancellation, and responding to messages.
In fact, we can see that you have a response rate, delivered on-time rate, and order completion rate.
So what’s it all mean?
Responding to messages indicates how fast and often you do so. So this number should always be greater than 90 percent, or 90 percent of your inquiries should be answered within the last 60 days. It’s important to make sure those numbers stay at or above 90 percent, otherwise, your ranking will fall.
That is the same for delivered on time here. Likewise, deliver 90 percent on-time over the course of 60 days. If you can’t get it done on time due to being too busy or because the client required additional work, try to talk to them about that. The importance of delivering orders on time is paramount.
Another key metric is your order completion rate. You should aim to complete 90 percent of your orders over the course of a 60 day period. You may cancel orders if your client is really annoying or if you can’t make it. It is important that these numbers stand at over 90%.
Always keep an eye on these three numbers.
#12. Using A Gig Video
According to Fiverr, gigs with videos sell 220% more than those without. For this reason, the video should be considered a requirement. Fiverr will also rank you higher if you use all their features. However, the vast majority of sellers don’t advertise using gig videos.
Based on 44 organic listings, only 16 listings use video for Character Modeling.
This is probably one of the best ways to outperform the competition since so many people aren’t taking advantage of the really strong features Fiverr has.
With a simple video, you will be able to outperform your competitor regardless of whether it’s whiteboard animation or a video with your own face.
Make sure you use a gig video for your gig.
#13. Passing A Fiverr Course
Fiverr offers courses on different topics. This course can be a good start for you if you want to learn how to make money from Fiverr without any skills.
And the best part?
You can get Fiverr to promote your gigs by taking these courses. You will earn a badge and thus attract more clients since the badge is a great advertising opportunity.
Most of the other sellers on Fiverr do not bother taking these courses, so they do not have these badges in their accounts.
Your customers will trust you more if you have the badge for completion attached to your account. Because of this, they will order from you rather than from your competitors.
It all boils down to this:
Fiverr strives to be a high-quality marketplace.
And Fiverr will rank you higher for being a more trustworthy gig.
#14. Promoted Gigs
It’s no secret that Fiverr’s search results and category pages are prime locations for maximum gig exposure.
When you do a search for any gig in Google, chances are Fiverr is within the top 10 search results.
The question is,
How do you take advantage by ranking on the top spot of the category page fast and efficiently?
Fiverr has launched a new feature called Promoted gigs.
With Promoted Gigs, your ads will appear at the top of Fiverr’s search results, category pages, as well as on the Fiverr mobile apps.
Fiverr does not offer this option to beginners. Fiverr is going to hand-pick your gig and enable the promoted gig feature.
Here are the criteria:
- You are a Level 1, Level 2, or Top Rated seller.
- Your Gig scores are 4.7 in the public rating.
- Your Gig has at least 20 reviews.
- You meet additional quality metrics.
Then all you have to do is choose a gig that you want to promote and set a budget to promote that gig. And Fiverr will take care of the rest.
The first time you decide to promote your gig with this promoted gig feature they give you ten dollars for free.
Backlinks are important and powerful because they are a ranking factor. Just like Google, Fiverr uses backlinks as a vote of confidence. Your account and gigs will generally rank higher for relevant keywords the more votes they receive.
These backlinks can be picked up by the Fiverr search engine, which will see them as a sign of confidence.
Your gigs will appear on Fiverr’s search engine for the keywords you’re trying to rank for. Fiverr algorithm will understand that people are mentioning and engaging with your gig by posting it onto their social media accounts, websites, or blogs.
But here’s the rub:
It is really important that you build quality backlinks because if you just order some links from Fiverr for 5 dollars a pop, the links you’ll get will be of low quality. You’ll probably start losing rankings if you do this.
Hence it is crucial to building your own quality backlinks rather than buying cheap Backlinks from Fiverr or any other comparable website.
You should probably assess whether building backlinks is an investment you are comfortable making based on the average order value of your gigs.
